Dear Bishop (again) - on the present crisis and Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin

As requested, here is my own letter to my diocesan bishop; feel free to use this as a template for your own prayerful request. In addition, you might consider signing a PETITION TO THE USCCB TO PERMANENTLY PLACE OUR LADY OF AMERICA IN THE NATIONAL SHRINE.  Dear Bishop,I want to thank you for all you have done and are doing for the Church, for this diocese, and for the people you shepherd. I was deeply impressed and moved by the diocesan Holy Hour, which included an extended period of silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. The demands on bishops during these difficult months have grown and deepened, and the weight of all you do is increased as the people wait for some resolution and a return of full confidence in the leadership of the Church. These difficult times for the Church require a deeply spiritual response, above and beyond the policy-making. This is the response for which people are thirsting and pleading! I am writing today to respectfully ask you to consider the request of Mary, Our Lady of America, and invite everyone in the diocese to this devotion as well.During the 1950s, Sr. Mary Ephrem of Ohio received a series of private revelations regarding the United States. The devotion to “Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin” received the approbation of Bishop Paul Leibold of Cincinnati; he also gave the imprimatur to the prayer attached to the devotion.*On November 15, 1956, Our Lady appeared and requested that a statue of her image as Our Lady of America be carried in solemn procession and placed in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., so that she may be honored there as a special safeguard for our country. She said in January of 1957, “Tell the Bishops of the United States, my loyal sons, of my desires and how I wish them to be carried out… Will my loyal sons carry out my desires and thus help me bring the peace of Christ once again to mankind?” This statue was displayed at the fall meeting of the USCCB in November, 2006, but has not yet been given a permanent place in our National Shrine. Please prayerfully consider working toward fulfilling this request of our Mother, whose Immaculate Heart will triumph, who intercedes for us always, and who can never be outdone in generosity.Be assured of my continued and heartfelt prayers for you and all you do for the Kingdom of Christ.Sincerely yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,Kathryn Mulderink *In a letter to the USCCB on May 31, 2007, Raymond Cardinal Burke, then the Ordinary of St. Louis, wrote a letter to the bishops reporting on his own study of this devotion: https://www.ourladyofamerica.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/OpinionLetter-May-2007.pdf
